FLORIDA - CLAIRTON PICNIC - FEBRUARY (every year) - FT. DE SOTO PARK

SEND YOUR PICNIC PICTURES (or unidentified peoples' names) TO ANNA MARIE WARD BOCHTER (CHS 1960) AND WE'LL INCLUDE THEM ON THIS WEBPAGE.

Hello Everyone! My name is Anna Marie (Ward) Bochter and I graduated from Clairton High School in 1960. This webpage is to share with all of you my recent attendance at the Clairton picnic held in Florida at Fort DeSoto Park near St. Petersburg. This was my first time attending the picnic and I had a wonderful time. It was great to see everyone so far from home. I tried to take pictures of all attending, but I know I didn't get everyone. If you have any pictures that I could post from this picnic, please send them to me and I'll put them on this website. Keep in mind that this picnic is held every year on the third Saturday of February at Ft. DeSoto Park. Once inside the Park, look for a sign to the specific picnic shelter. Click on the links below to view the pictures from the picnic. Also, see below for directions to the Park for those of you not familiar with the area.

Clairton picnic area is located southwest of St. Petersburg, Florida. Starting at I4 West, go to I275 South. Use Exit 17 onto Rt. 682 West, Pinellas Bayway (toll - 50 cents). Get off at Rt. 679 South (another toll - 35 cents). This route will take you into Fort De Soto Park, where there will be a sign directing you to the Clairton picnic shelter on a beautiful part of the beach. Bring your own lunch and beverage. There is no charge for the picnic. We arrived about 11:00 a.m. and there were many people already there. I'm not sure what time it "officially" starts...
