FLORIDA - CLAIRTON PICNIC - FEBRUARY (every year) - FT. DeSOTO PARK

THIRD SATURDAY IN FEBRUARY

SEND YOUR PICNIC PICTURES (or unidentified peoples' names) TO ANNA MARIE WARD BOCHTER (CHS 1960) AND WE'LL INCLUDE THEM ON THIS WEBPAGE.

Hello! I finally made it back to the Clairton Florida Picnic for the 2016 event, my first time back since 2009. The day dawned beautiful with plenty of sunshine. The temperature was a comfortable 77/78 degrees, lots of sunshine, and the perfect day for a picnic in February...in a shelter right on the beach. The following pictures show everyone having a good time, sharing a lunch, and renewing friendships from many years ago. There was plenty of orange and black in the crowd. You knew you were in the right place at the sight of all that familiar orange and black!

Ron Isger takes care of all the details for the picnic. He reserves the shelter, signs everyone in, provides nametags, and keeps the master list of who was there in the current year and who has attended in the past along with the last year they attended. Keep in mind that this picnic is held every year on the third Saturday of February at Ft. DeSoto Park. Once inside the Park, look for a sign to the specific picnic shelter - Shelter 14. You can share in the joy of the picnic through the pictures below. Check them out and provide us with missing names. We will update this website as we receive more pictures.

If you have any pictures that you took at the picnic, please send them to Anna Marie Ward Bochter (CHS'60) at the above e-mail address or contact me to find how to send them to me non-electronically. As usual, your help is always needed to identify the people in these pictures. I always make an attempt at identification, but I don't know all the people and sometimes the angle makes it difficult to positively identify someone. Please help by letting me know of any corrections or if you can add any names I missed...Anna Marie.

NOTICE

Please note that alcoholic beverages are not permitted in Ft. DeSoto Park. There was a visit from a Park Ranger during the 2011 picnic where he issued a warning. If attendees are caught with alcoholic beverages in the future, a hefty fine will be issued. Please adhere to the Park regulations during future visits for the Clairton Florida Picnic.

If a person has a valid Disabled Parking Permit, they are not required to pay the parking fee of $5....but they must display the permit when entering the park.
